Understanding the musical demands of artists and their needs for self-expression, translating them and communicating them into technical language to the master artisans at Excelsior; mediating between art and craftsmanship, and culture and industry have been the delicate task undertaken by Roberto Lucanero at Excelsior. This work has produced exciting results. Making the right instrument for a musician, that enables him to express his art the best way possible, is absolutely the most gratifying experience for both the person who makes the instrument and for the person who receives it. Examples of winning collaborations can be seen in the new look of the accordion made for the entertainer Valentino Borrillo; the custom tuning and frame of the accordion made for the jazz musician Antonello Salis; the entire conception and production of the unique piece used by the great Gianni Coscia; and the development of the diatonic instrument used by Lucanero himself, the Lion model, available on request.
